  1. Just wondering why BJP’s ‘political strategy’ of stimulating Hindu nationalism and violence failed in Bihar (2015) but succeeded two years later in Uttar Pradesh. Was it simply because the violence increased?

    1. It will be more or less effective in different contexts depending on other political, social, caste and economic issues. Hindu nationalism has historically struggled in the face of numerous cross cutting ethnic, linguistic, regional and caste identities.
